Upgrading Again! ;D

Yay! I'm so happy I am finally upgrading my 30 gallon! I am getting a good deal on a 65 gallon !!($1/gallon) so I can upgrade my snail tank!

YES, this is a SNAIL TANK! lol Currently they are in a 3 foot long 30gallon, and quite frankly, it's just not big enough! lol

Unfortunately, I will then be selling the 30, because I do need to keep my tanks limited to 3. Plus I have no room for it anyway! Well, I will keep the 10 gallon for a q-tank, so I will have 4, but only 3 in use - the 75, 65, and 20 long. My bf had no idea that buying that first little betta would lead to this (hence the 3 tank cap - I was up to 7 at one point lol)!

We are picking it up on friday! Wee! I'm simply going to transfer the filters over for instant cycling (there is no substrate). I do plan on having a gravel mixture in the 65 though, at some point - well maybe, it is a snail grow out after all. And I will need to replace the filters (2x biowheel 350) with a good canister, when $ allows.

The only fish I think I will end up putting in there are the 10 honey gouramis I have in the 75. They seem scared of the angels, so I'll give them their own space. Oh, and my female betta rescue, Damsel.

And don't you dare give me any other ideas! lol

Congrads, that's a good deal. Why not keep the 30 gallon long and sell the 20g, it's still 3 tanks LOL. Room for more Angels in the 65g ????

I have the 20 set up, planted, dirted with a sand cap, home made dividers . . I'm not re-doing that! lol I am getting this tank from my local discus breeder, the one who sold me the angels. She is down grading slightly, so selling off a few tanks! It doesn't have a stand or lid, but I'm ok for that.
I don't want angels in there, because they are little brats and nip the snails. If they behaved themselves, I would. lol

Lol thanks everyone! But don't get your hopes up, snail tanks don't tend to be pretty! Lol at least not with my 2 canas- they LOVE eating any and all of my plants. Lol Especially the floating frog bit! That's like a delicacy or something. My big girl Armé -she eats a ton... You'll understand why when I show pics

Apple snails

In the 30, I'm only keeping the 2 canas. The rest of the apples get sold off soon, about a dozen left. The 65 will be home to the canas, and a grow out for the baby diffusas (2 species of apple).
Right now I have 2-3 week old diffusas in the 10 gallon "nursery". They will go into the 65 once it's settled. I think there are about 50-75 of them, all around the size of a pencil eraser, but most are smaller. I will also make use of the 75 for a grow out, but it's primarily my angel community. At any time, I will be raising from 50-500 snails, as I am now my fave local pet/fish store's main apple snail provider.

I will eventually lightly plant the snail tank, as the diffusas don't eat healthy plants - well, rarely. lol Not enough to stop me from planting it with thick, strong plants (grasses and light stem plants get bulldozed and end up floating lol), but I won't be able to do that so long as I have the canas. Unless I feel like feeding them super expensive meals lol!

I took some really cool videos last night but I am having a really hard time uploading them to youtube. I can't figure out why.

I didn't know there were different kinds of apple snails! I'm looking forward to seeing your video. I wish I had room for one (I won a purple one in Rogue's RAOK) but the only tank it could go in was a 10 gallon, and I feel like that's a bit small for a snail that can get so big. It was hard to say goodbye to a big purple snail. I'll get one one day though.

Aw, that's too bad! You could have kept it in there, actually. Go get another! (unless it was for bioload reasons). They only get close to a ping pong ball size, most not even. Females generally are larger though.

I'm asking my computer savvy bf when he gets off at lunch to help me with the video. lol I can't figure it out!

I've only ever uploaded one video to youtube, so I'd be of no help!

Lol I already told Rogue he could give it to someone else. I wasn't sure if an apple snail would add too much bioload, but I don't think my tank will be heavily stocked (an apisto, half a dozen endlers or so, and a nerite). Hmmm maybe I could put the nerite in the 5.5 with the betta and the MTS, and get TWO apples for the 10 gallon...and hope they make more apples to feed my assassin snails!

Uploading to youtube is super easy. You click the upload button in the upper right hand side of the screen, then you select where the file is located on your computer. That's pretty much it.

Ok, he figured it out. I was using iphoto, but it I could not send videos from there, so I (ok, he) had to install imovies!

Thanks, though, Cichlidnut.

I'm going to post it separately soon

Edit: imovie is now in the process of automatically (thank goodness) transferring all my movies from iphoto to its program. However, it seems I have a lot of videos and this make take a little while lol.

Edit again: Oh, and I talked to the tank owner, and I will not be picking it up tonight, as she had an emergency with her dog. Hope its ok! I should get it this weekend she said, though.

Got the tank! Turns out, it's a thick glass, and very heavy. My bf and her husband put it in the car. Problem is, we now can't get it out of the car! Lol it's too heavy for me to help, and it's too large and heavy for him. Lol so it's going to stay there until we can get a strong friend to help us ! Sigh* I really didn't Think it would be so darn heavy

Lol...I know the feeling when I bought my 100 gallon, I had to knock on my neighbors doors to help me move the tank.
