Upgraded To Aquaclear Hob - Got One Beef

So for the two months I've been running this 29 gallon tank I've used the Aquatech 20-40 hob that came with it and - can I just say? Garbage. 60% of the water it took in didn't even go through the sponge and media! It just poured out the edge! Anyway, I figured out the lack of good filtration was junking up my cycle, so I splurged on an Aquaclear 20-50 hob and I absolutely love it. Plenty of room for everything, makes very little noise, good flow... But.

But, I have one beef for you Aquaclear:

WHY THE HECK ARE YOUR INTAKE TUBES SO DADGUM SHORT?

I had to bust out $7 for another piece of plastic just to get it to reach down half way into my tank. This is a filter for up to a 50 gallon tank and the intake tube is just so stinking short. Are all aquaclear filters like this? Seems like a cheap way for them to charge you extra money for a necessary extension. :/

(also my filter came with two intake tubes? Same length and type just... Came with two of them. Huh.)

The extra tube is an extension. They just slip on just like the one you bought. I bought an extra an it almost touches the bottom of my tank.

PFRPDT yup. Still gonna order that extra extension though, the intake only reaches a little past halfway down my tank now.

Before installing the second tube I ended up cutting the "grill" off the bottom of it so it would restrict the flow.

I made the same mistake when I added an AC70 to my 55 I was wondering why its so short and they give you a back up intake tube those never break hahahaha. Till I felt the same way as you when I posted the identical question... Great filters!!
