So, just upgraded my lights from incandescent to compact florescent. WOW its bright in there!!! I now have a 10 gallon with 2 15w compact florescent bulbs that put out 900 lumens each and are 6500k.

What is my lighting setup considered.... moderate?

That's 3 watts per gallon, so I would say you are in between moderate and high light. More on the moderate side though.

I say you've got highlighting if not too much light being its only a 10g. Rapid Algae growth will be a sign if you have too much light. Like Green Spot Algae. Co2 and fertlizer will be a must.

will it help to limit my light to about 6 hours a day? I don't know anything about CO2.

Excel is a liquid source for carbon and great for small planted tanks.

You can start with 6 hours of lighting. Not sure how much that will help. Just monitor your tank for algae growth. That will let you know that you've got an imbalance.
