Upgrade To Led

I want to upgrade my tank light from a florescent tube to an LED light. The florescent tube came with the tank and is fitted to the hood.
that hole is where the florescent tube goes and is where I will put the LED. The length of the hood measures approximately 24.8 inches whilst the hole itself measures roughly 20.4 inches long and around 3.2 inches wide. So I was assuming that I could buy any LED light that is anywhere from 20-24 inches long (assuming that it is okay for the light to actually be longer than the hole). Am I correct?





I was looking at these lights, would there dimensions fit my hood?

 

#1 National Geographic: 20.4 in L x 3.8 in W x 1.3 in H
That one is a little wider than the hole in your hood so I don’t think it’ll fit. (It might though!)

#2 Aqueon: the brackets on this one are not removeable so it would have to sit on top of your hood.

#3 Marineland: I can't really find enough info on this. I wouldn’t get it bc of that reason.

 

I wasn’t expecting it sit in the hole in the hood I kinda thought it would be raised up on brackets. I was wondering if it would be fine raised on brackets even if it was bigger than the hole, is it fine?

Which light is the better?

(Also there’s a piece of glass goes in the hole to keep fish from jumping out, the light shines through the glass)

 

Just a suggestion, I was in the same predicament wanting to switch to LED and had two black canopies side by side with hood lights.... I ended up purchasing the fluval eco bright led light from my lps and it works great sitting longways on the tank across the top of the two canopies....

 

Look at the Finnex Planted+, I believe there is a 24" model (assuming you want live plants).

 

Well I’d rather not order it online, and the only ones at Petsmart are the ones that I just listed, which would be the best one?
