unwanted tadpoles

I have three african dwarf frogs and I think one may be pregnant . so what do I do with the unwanted tadpoles? I may want to keep a few and I know they eat this inflorisna stuff. my question is where do you get it? is it something you can buy at the pet store or do you have to grow it at home?

 

Take a lettus leaf and a large bowl.
Crush the lettus leaf, place in bowl and cover the leaf with aqa=uarium water.

Within 24 hours the water should start turning green.

Unwanted tadpoles could provide a nice variety to the diet of any larger cichlids you may have. (Anything big enough to eat them really, I think.)

 

Or you could try and sell them to the pet stores.

I have tadpoles right now that I catch in ponds around my property. boil some lettuce, roll it into little balls and freeze it so you can use it as you need it- that's a good food for tadpoles. Basically they like to eat decaying plant matter so boiling makes it really soft. Also if you have a fish pond or anything with water and leaves that is pollution free you could pull some rotting water weeds out and give those a try. Dry dog food as well is a good protein source for them, but only give them half a chunk or whatever.

This is tadpoles for an African Dwarf Frog. They only get to be about 2" long when fully grown.

The dog food is an interesting idea, but I would think it to be too high in protein for tadpoles. Also it contains mammalian fat, which fish and amphibians do not digest well, normally.

But wouldn't the tadpole just digest as much of the protein it can and purge the rest out of it's body?

No. Its just like if you eat something too rich you'd get sick. (Example: If you ate an entire double chocolate cheesecake with chocolate chips and melted chocolate drizzled over it, all in one sitting you'd probably puke.) Tadpoles do not have the reflexes to puke, so they'd probably become heavily constipated and die.
