Unknown “worms” In Betta Tank

Hello,

Recently I noticed very tiny clear “worms” that seem to float and occasionally wiggle in my freshwater betta fish tank.

I decided to do a full clean of the tank and remove all gravel.

A few hours later I noticed a colony of these “worms” appear on the bottom of the tank. The fish was fed before cleaning and the tank was spotless.

Does anyone know what these creatures are and if they are harmful to my fish? If so, how do I get rid of them?

Hi, they are likely to be detritus worms, if so, they are harmless and sometimes fish will even eat them. Water changes will help, also can be caused by over feeding. What is the yellow fuzzy clump in the photo?

 

It seems like the worms are colonizing in that area ever since I removed the gravel. That would be the fuzzy clump in the photo.

Ohhh weird! I saw the ones you circled, I’ve never seen them have a community gathering, lol, but I have gravel.

No problem, maybe suck them up, rinse gravel, and do a few frequent water changes over the next week or two.
