Hey can anyone help with what might be wrong with my moms fish. He's quite lethargic was laying on the bottom of the tank. I put him in a breeder box so he could get oxygen. Dosed the tank with melafix and stress coat.

He's got a bad infection I think. See the red spot behind his eye and how the scales on his head/face or lifted up? That's not suppose to happen. He needs some antibiotics (kanaplex should do), not melafix. Melafix is made of oils which can coat the breathing labyrinth on a betta, causing more harm than good.
Would also like the ask if his gills themselves are swollen, which could indicate gill flukes. In which case antibiotics won't help much.

He's definitely breathing hard and his face is definitely swollen, not just his gills. I honestly don't think he's going to pull through, but you can try.
Does the red look like a lesion on the scales/skin? Or does it look like it's under the scales/skin?

Change the water- melafix can kill him because of his labyrinth organ. He has fin rot and maybe dropsy. Treat him with an antibiotic. Might be too late.
