Hoping for some help ID'ing a fish that I bought online two weeks ago.

I purchased a group of "Cupid Cichlids" online. I normally buy from my LFS, but I've been wanting this fish for years and finally found it in stock somewhere.

Something tells me these aren't Biotodoma Cupido. They have dark bands across their body, a red tail, no eye stripe, and no dark spot towards their caudal fin. They seem to resemble some other type of Geophagus species. I've been searching online but am coming up empty handed. The largest is about 2", so not complete juveniles. It's also been a few weeks so it's not stress coloring.

I did not have the best experience with this store (had an outstanding order for several months with no resolve, finally got these back in stock the day I cancelled, and they offered them).

    Any ideas?

Could be actually . Also wondering now about Geophagus Winemilleri. Some of the younger pics I've found look similar, too.

Not an expert but could it be a Satanoperca-species?

It’s definitely a Geophagus. Not winemilleri which has a black mark in front of the gill. I don’t know for sure but it could well be abalios. Young Geos are not always easy to ID. It’ll become clearer as it grows.
