At first glance, the fish looks like some variety of a female African Cichlid Haplochromis. Maybe chromedome52 can narrow down the possibilities.

Here's a pic of my young adult female Tiawan Reef. The silver with black stripes is typical for female & juvenile African Cichlid Haps.

well what’s weird is I work at a Petshop and we found it in our feeder goldfish tank, and the only tanks nearby are South American cichlids and the Africans a solid 10 feet away.

I couldn't say much more than it does have an African Haplochromine look to it. Not sure a better picture would help all that much. Identifying a Cichlid with female markings like that is like trying to identify the color strain of a female Guppy without the male.
