Underwater Cameras

Does anyone have any experience using a camera in their fishtank? There are some pretty decent looking GoPro clones that have a little remote and could easily be mounted on a plastic rod. I'm thinking of something for taking a few snapshots from time to time, not a 24-7 video feed.

If you've got a decent camera in your phone, the waterproof cases are honestly quite good and inexpensive. My sister's got one for her iPhone that we used all over the ocean and freshwater diving in Mexico that would hold up more than well enough for your purposes.

Unfortunately, the camera on my phone is so so at best. And, I want something with a 1/4-20 mount so I dont have to get my hands wet.

I think a GoPro type camera will work well as long as the maker specifically says that is can go underwater.

My experience with GoPro is about like the reviews on their 3rd camera 2.5 of 5.

Sometimes it was great, others it didn't even get the photos (like the time the one whale I saw in 2 years of living in the south pacific! ).

I'd personally look at a small point and shoot like this nikon w150 or w300 Nikon COOLPIX W150 | Waterproof Point & Shoot Digital Camera
Or the Olympus...
Tough Camera: Waterproof, Shockproof, & Freezeproof | Olympus
Or a Sony action camera

Here is a good source for cheaper options too.
Point and Shoot Cameras, Compact Digital Cameras | B&H Photo

B&H is a great company. I have dealt with them for many years.
