Undergravel uplift tub cap??? Any ideas???

I'm cleaning my 10 gallon and have found that the pump I had stop the uplift tube for my undergravel filter has died. I have to wait for payday to get a new one. I don't want to take the tube out and have to just rearrange the tank in a week to put it back. But I don't want anyone to swim down it and get stuck. (Yes, I've had this happen.) I've a terrible headache so I can't really think straight right now but I need a quirky fit cap for the tube that doesn't float. A cap to a medicine bottle works great but floats right off. I can't think of anything else but y'all usually have great ideas so here I am. Any ideas?

I'd use a plastic pan scrubber or similar.

But why not just leave the dead pump in place?

It's difficult to know without a photo but I tried!

Yeah, I finally just plunked the dead pump back in there. Plastic pan scrubber is a good idea though thanks! I hate having migraines, they make it impossible to think straight! Thanks!

Oh no! I suffer from migraine too.

I have to take a daily tablet to help to prevent them.

I also have another tablet to take if I feel one coming on. If I need to take this latter one I'm OK again after about 45 minutes.

If I get one while asleep it knocks me out for a day and the pain is terrible but luckily this is now rare because I have the correct medication and avoid the triggers which for me are bright light, dehydration, alcohol, lack of sleep and over-exertion.

Redshark1 mine are sporadic not bad enough for daily meds and I have one for events but THAT day I just wasn't thinking straight and it came on so slow it was full blown before I realized why I felt so bad! I was cleaning out my 10 gallon and having fun watching my snail since I put them and the fish in a clean cooler while I was doing the water change I was paying more attention to them not crawling out and getting the water change done than I was myself!

Yes, it took me a while to recognise when migraine was coming on. I don't get headaches otherwise so I now admit its coming and do something about it. Take care!
