Unbalanced Tank

rkeehn547

Hello, I’ve had a 20 gallon tank running for about 6 months now and I’ve been dealing with a lot of algae lately. There’s a lot of hair algae and black beard algae growing on the leaves of my plants. I also have brown diatom algae growing on the glass and gravel of the tank. I’m using a low light Marineland LED bar for the lighting. I keep the light on for 10 hour a day. I also dose the tank with 2 pumps of aquarium co op easy green weekly. Any tips on balancing the tank and getting rid of the algae? Thanks

I'd start by reducing the lighting down to 8 hours. Then see what that does over the course of a few weeks.

I also don't recommend using the pump on the Easy Green fertilizer bottle. The pump is not accurate or consistent. I use Easy Green, and I like the product, but the pump is a cheap gimmick. Get a syringe and measure your dosage properly.
