Unable to keep PH of tank down sits about 7.6 - 8

haws1290

Hi I am wondering if anyone has any solutions on my pH.problem. It stays around 7.6 - 8 I think its kind of hard to read the test so I'll post some pictures up. I've tried using pH minus but it doesn't affect the pH at all. Not sure what to do fish seem fine.

Is there a particular reason you're trying to lower it? Most fish will do fine with that pH, especially if they're farm raised. I have a variety doing just fine and my water is 8.2.

Most fish will do better with water slightly outside their supposed ideal range than they will with fluctuating parameters while the fish keeper chases that perfect water.

No just because the test says it's high so was worried that's good then if 8 is OK

There are a few fish that need lower pH (like discus and German Blue rams), but most commonly available tropical fish will do okay. In fact, that's just about perfect for most live bearers.

Welcome to Fishlore.

I agree with JettsPapa, it's probably best to embrace your hard water.

Have you already stocked your tank? If you haven't, I'm sure many people on here (including myself) would be happy to share some hard water fishes to choose from.
