This makes number 4......

It's a 40G breeder. The HOB was on sale so I said screw it lol. I eventually want to move to a canister, an HOB this big looks ridiculous, it's actually for a 55.

First time using fluorite, no matter how long you rinse it....

2 days later

Pay no attention to the lights. It's temp/brainstorming.

I am currently looking at a planted plus to get it to Med/low light as I want to plant it.

Follow me today as I scape.

I decided I need one more bag of fluorite, that would make 3. I wanted a decent bed.

Being the tank is already filled, I changed it up a bit. I rinsed it as usual but then [exclaimer only try this when your wife or GF is out of the house for an extended time] I lined three baking sheets with tin foil and dried the fluorite in the oven 15 mins at a time at 250.

You'll find the dust sticks to the foil.

I then took a batch at a time, put it into a zip lock bag and put it into the tank. Yes, some dust kicked up but in 20 mins all was well. Best I've seen yet.

The light I'm running is a finnex planted plus. I was shoot for medium light. We'll see how the plants do to see if I need another one.

Left side done

Yes there's some minor dust. Lol

I'll have to dig the names up. These should all be low and medium light plants. I'm almost thinking one fixture is not enough but I'm trying very had to stay away from high due to no C02.

Still waiting on two plants, giant hair grass and staurogyne repens. Not exactly thrilled with the two Ludwig on the left or the ones in front of the spider wood.

Anyway

Looks great! Are you going to keep the stem plants trimmed and bushy?

I'm going to let me get established and see how I like it before I do any trimming. I'm waiting for all the plants to show before I move anything.

I found out today, the GF threw away the list of the plants. Went back to the receipt and there labeled freshwater plants...

Besides the red melon sword, I have to look all these up.....

Should I start another thread in a different location detailing all this?

If you need help with figuring out what you have then starting a thread in the plant ID subforum might get you more responses.

Maybe throwing out the list was payback for abusing her baking trays
