Well I had some free time, so I thought, "hey, why not complain to fishlore!" (sorry in advance ;D )

So I'm setting up a newish tank and running out of decorations. Why not steal some from my cichlid tank? Grabbing some fake plants...etc when I hear my filter. Running ok, then clunck, running ok, then clunck. Great. I take out the filter out of the water and into my bathroom, take it apart and rinse it out really well (I know, not recommended, but I recently added sand and figured there was sand all up in my filter). Got all the sand out, put the filter back into the tank, fill it with water and plug it in.

Starts off ok, then clunck. SUPER. Just what I need. I take the filter to the bathroom again and rinse it out again (extra good this time!). Start it up again, and, you guessed it, clunck! To shorten the story, I did this a few times and nothing helped.

Needing an extra filter around the house anyway, I went to the pet store to get a new one to put in the tank while I try to figure out what's up with the old one. So, I get the filter home, open it up, and start assembling. THERE'S NO MOTOR

Will be heading back to the pet store after my doctors appt

Is there an impeller that is bent somehow? What do you mean the new filter has no motor? That's crazy!

There's probably something that's bent- it's been banged around quite a bit lately (my fault...).

Yup. No motor. Manufacturing error? Oh well, I got the filter in the end
