Sooo in typical newbie fashion I trusted my lfs not to direct me to fish that wouldn’t be appropriate for my tank (10 g), buuuuut he sold me the awesome little guy and I cannot for the life of me place what kind of pleco he is. It’s hard for me to tell since they said he’s albino and doesn’t have typical coloring (he looks like he could be a super red though? Once again, not sure) anyone have a better idea of what kind he is? No matter what I have a backup plan for him in a 35 gallon that will be cycled soon or at my in-laws with an even bigger aquarium than I can offer him when the time comes if he ends up being a common pleco. Thanks in advance for your help!

No pleco is suitable for a ten gallon, even bns and clowns should not go into a ten gallon, return him as he is the albino chocolate pleco as listed above (it is a color variant of common pleco).

Did the shop know you were buying fish for a 10G ?
Unfortunately yes they did. I live in a very rural area and should have known better than to trust the local store employee...

It's unfortunate that local pets stores know very little about the fish they sell. We'll help you out here on fishlore. He is a cute little guy. I think it is a chocolate as well. @chromedome52 is our ID specialist mabee he can let you know.

Yes, it does appear to be an albinistic Common Pleco, often sold as chocolate due to the color.
