Now have tank, all seems to be going well! 5 Cherry Barbs and 5 White Cloud Minnows. Spend far too long watching them ( nut house for me next if anyone see's me gazing into tank the way I do!!!! def love watching my Cherry babies) Only a 7.5 gallon tank/28 ltr. Question is I have no desire to over stock it at all but like maybe a couple of bigger fish. 2 Red Honies / Honeys( can't seem to find info on these on net, anyone have any?) have been suggested or just one male betta, also have been told maybe 2 male guppies.

Any thoughts or advice? My little bunch seem happy enough, should I leave them or add ( would be nice but there is always my next bigger tank!!!)? Michelle

I would leave it as is. At this point it would be real easy to overstock it. The red honey gouramI is one of the dwarfs but still need some room.

Can I ask what temperature you keep your tank at? I have been thinking about getting some barbs and white clouds after my tank cycles, but I thought white clouds like it a bit cool, whereas cherry barbs prefer it warmer? Am I misinformed or do the fish adjust to whatever temperature you have the tank set at...as long as it's consistent?

Thanks for the info.

white clouds are very versitile little fish. Being minnows they come from cooler water but seem to do equally well in warmer temps up to 76-78F. At the higher end they tend not to live as long because at higher temps metabolism speeds up and they tend to age and die. Also the cooler water has more oxygen and as it warms it will have less. I have always felt this has an influence on how long they live since they come from cooler, well oxyginated water.
