Two flame tetras missing eyeballs?

Okay, so I woke up this morning and one of my flame tetras is missing an eyeball— this is pretty weird, because a few weeks ago a different flame tetra also lost an eyeball. Does anyone know what’s going on here? Some sort of genetic thing, disease, a rogue eyeball eater?

My tank volume is 54 liters (14 gallons) and has been running for about 3 months now. It’s a Blue Planet model so it’s got a 3-stage pressurised filter and a suitable heater set at about 28 degrees. It’s got two corydoras, one otocinclus, six flame tetras and one betta (who is looking particularly smug today…hmm). I got the tetras about 2 months ago and they’ve been fine.

There has been a bit of chasing and flaring from my betta in the past but since he’s a halfmoon he can never catch up. Totally fine with corys and the otto, and if I could I’d transfer him to my 9 liter (2.3 gallons, only used as an emergency tank) but I don’t have a heater for it. My tetras are also a bit of a shoddy batch, this particular tetra has a very kinked spine and another one has a slightly kinked one but they’re perfectly happy otherwise.

I feed the fish every day (mostly pellets, sometimes frozen bloodworms), they all get around 2-3 pellets each. All tetras are acting completely normal (even those who lost eyes) and the one with the older eye disappearance has healed up (no eye though).

I can’t test the parameters since I get that done at my LFS, I can’t drive and my parents are out for the day. I did a water change yesterday and do around 30% each week.

Any advice is appreciated, I’ll fill out the emergency template below so it’s easier for people to read. :)
Tank
What is the water volume of the tank? 54 liters (14 gallons)
How long has the tank been running? 3 months.
Does it have a filter? Yes.
Does it have a heater? Yes.
What is the water temperature? Should be around 28 celsius.
What is the entire stocking of this tank? (Please list all fish and inverts.)
6 Flame Tetras
2 Bronze Corydoras
1 halfmoon betta
1 otocinclus

Maintenance
How often do you change the water? Every week, more often if there’s an issue.
How much of the water do you change? Around 25-50%
What do you use to treat your water? API stress coat+
Do you vacuum the substrate or just the water? Substrate and water every time.

*Parameters - Very Important
Did you cycle your tank before adding fish? No. I waited a few days and added the corydoras.
What do you use to test the water? My LFS.
What are your parameters? We need to know the exact numbers, not just “fine” or “safe”.

I can’t test parameters right now.

Feeding
How often do you feed your fish? Every day.
How much do you feed your fish? 2-3 pellets or frozen bloodworms each.
What brand of food do you feed your fish? API betta pellets or API corydora pellets
Do you feed frozen? Once a week.
Do you feed freeze-dried foods? No.

Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? Two months.
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? This morning for one, a week or two ago for the other.
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms? Their left eyeballs are missing. No other wounds.
Have you started any treatment for the illness? Other than water changes, no.
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase? Not ill, but this one had a very kinked spine and another tetra has a mildly kinked spine.
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all? Other than the missing eyeball, nothing has changed.

Explain your emergency situation in detail.
I woke up this morning and my tetras eyeball is missing. No other signs of woundage, tetra acting fine. I suspect either my betta or one of the other tetras.

I think you have this case already figured out. The maimed Tetras are apparently weak, leaving them susceptible to a night attack from the marauding Betta.
There's probably no chance to positively identify the exact cause for injury unless you witness it.
Btw welcome to Fishlore.

Thank you so much— any suggestions on what I should do? Easiest thing I can think of is maybe getting a breeders box and locking him up at night, but idk if that’s a poor idea

Netting & Placing the Betta in a breeder box on a nightly basis sounds a little bit too stressful for
you & the Betta. Lol.

Put the tetras in another tank and hope the betta doesn't attack your other fish, or give the Betta it's own tank.
