Two different questions.

Hello everyone. I can not find an answer online through a hour of searching through google, and since everyone here gives very good answers, I came here to ask this question. How can I transport tropical fish safely to different homes. I have the box that they use to ship fish in, minus the bags that they use. Should I buy some heat packs?

My other question is I am leaving for a trip and will not be back until the next night. I can feed my betta in the morning, but she will have to wait until I come back in the late night to get feed the next day. Should I do anything in order to keep her safe? Will she be ok, or should I try to get someone to come in to check on her?

Iam not sure I understand the transporting question. As for the betta, it would be fine, fish can go for a week or so without food. My bettas only get fed everyother day. Keeps the tank cleaner(less food=less poo) , and reduces the chances of constipation.

 

How far will you be traveling?I have transported them in plastic bowls and bags for a couple of hours.Just keep the vehicle some what warm and acclimate them when you get to your destination.I do skip feeding once or twice a week.

 

45 minutes tops.

 

Bettas can go over a month without food, she will be fine. Its a good general practice to fast them for 1 day out of the week, I prefer feeding every other day tops.

 

The trip will be no problem, you can use about any plastic container that is food safe, Heck even zip lock baggies are safe for fish transport. Keep them above 60 thou and then take some time to acclimate them to their new homes.
