Two Bettas ........ What To Do??

Hello everyone,
I have just rescued a betta from a relative, I think she was pouring food in the tank by the pound I tried to tell her just two pellets but after a while I couldn’t take it anymore so I asked if I could take him.

On to my question, I already have a betta of my own in a ten gallon planted aquarium. Can I put a divider in that tank so the two bettas can live in that tank? I have 7 tanks already including a 210 gallon and I really don’t want another tank but I do want to do what is right for this little guy.

If I can divide the tank is one sponge filter enough for the whole tank?

Thank you all for any suggestions and help.

Yeah you can divide it, but I think that the betta that already in the 10 gallon isn't going to like it because he's used to the space. You're gonna need 2 sponge filters because there's only going to be circulation on one side of the tank and very little on the other side.

Ofcourse you can divide it! I'd go with 2 sponge filters on both sides though to. Try to get a divider the bettas can't see each other through and include lots of hiding spots because if they can see each other they will be very stressed.

If you rearrange the contents of the tank when you add the divider, your existing betta won't know the difference. To him it'll be like a new 5 gallon tank.
