Twig Catfish(Farlowella Catfish) being weird?

I've had 1 of my tig catfish for months, he is the total opposite of what the species is supposed to be-very active, not intimidated by other fish, in the middle of the action. Cool lil dude(actually, I think 'he' might be a female, but that's not the point of this post).

I got a 2nd one that fits the species norms much more. So much that I constantly am worried something is wrong with him, but then I'll notice he's moved so he's not dead‍♀️
Anyways, he's found this spot that he loved, and he is ALWAYS on it, but it puts him a bit out of the water. I have a sponge breaking up the outflow of my HOB because it was so powerful it would constantly throw up sand and soil from the substrate. Plus, it also catches the last bit of mainly soil that the HOB misses and makes my tank that much clearer. I know twig catfish tend to me in flowing water, but I'm just wondering how normal this is. I'll attach pictures.

My first reaction was he liked the flow, my 2nd was maybe it has more algae and whatnot on it that he's eating? Is it ok for him to be so out of the water like this??

So, that's hard to say. I feel like I never see him eat, but maybe he's eating at night? I throw a few chunks of algae wafers in the tank every few days...but I have 3 mystery snails and the other twig catfish that I'm afraid get to them before him. My other twig catfish is a pig and I have no idea how to keep him from eating all the algae wafers. I actually just threw a few chunks in and my 1st gobbled so much I have to keep shooing him away when I catch him on one

I should also add I have a lot of plants in my tank, and don't take out much decaying plant matter as I have many bottom dwellers that eat it. I do see him on plants quite a bit, so I'm assuming he's getting most of his diet there. I also have driftwood and cholla wood I see him on a lot, I'm sure he eats that, too.

It is possible, actually probable, that he eats leftover crumbs when the tank is more calm and dark. This is more of the natural behavior of a twigg catfish. The more active guy is the oddball, not to worry, captive fish often act differently. I don't think that you need to worry about adding more food or shoeing away the other fish. But, I make my own fish food, its easy, Its soo much healthier, the fishes color really pop! So, if you wanted to make your own fish food, you can use a lollypop mold to make a lolly pop fish food that you can use to hand feed your fish,

Not a twig catfish, but...

I have a galaxy/vampire pleco that swims into the outflow of our Marineland Penguin Pro 375. Some nights the amount of determination is just mind blowing - you'll hear lots of splashing and occasionally his head hits the bio wheel. I'm not kidding. He's always, always done this. Open the filter cover and he's staring at you like..."What did I do?". Shoo him out and he goes right back. Not every night, but maybe once every month or two. Healthy as can be. Happy as can be. Incredibly active...even when the light is on.

So I wouldn't be too worried about another catfish doing goofy things...some of em I think are just clowns by nature :)

Your twig catfish wouldn't be there if he/she didn't like it.
