Turquoise rainbow colors changes when chasing others

    Hi All,

Just kind of curious..so I thought I'll ask the forum. My one turquoise rainbow darkens up (orange color get brighter on his nose) when he/she starts chasing my other rainbows. He doesn't chase my gourami or my neon rainbows...only the other turquoise and my MacCullochi Rainbowfish

Is this one of those fishy things? :D My parameters are all good and all my fish are in perfect condition. I'm attaching a photo that I tried to take when he brightens up.

    Thanks,
    Riaan

    It is beautiful fish...nice pic

Sounds like maybe breeding time is coming up...at least it thinks so!! Be sure the others have places to hide so it will even out the chasing. Sounds like normal healthy behavior.

You are correct! I did some more reading and found the following:

"Males frequently flash an instantaneous brightly colored band that runs from the upper lip to the first dorsal fin, which they flash on and off like a neon sign"

That is exactly what mine does.

    Thanks!
