Tumours?

Am I right? I have been treating for 3 weeks now with various meds, trying to clear this up, but nothing seems to affect it. The fish has remained lively, eats well and seems untroubled by this affliction, other than the occasional flashing.

I cannot tell, but do they look like pimples?

Finish up with your current run of meds, and I will do a bit of reasearch tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

Thanks Dino. Yes they do look like white pimles, pushing up from under the scales. Also, they have started to drop off isnce I took him out of the meth blue/meds combination and put him into an isolation tank. He seems to be returning to normal now, scales settling back and no ill-effects, and doesn't seem the least concerned about it!

When they drop off, they look like small white donuts. If it weren't a fish, I would liken it to ringworm!

Fish pox?

Hmm.. do you think it might be fish pox?

Whatever it was, it appears to have completely cleared now, and none of the other fish that were in the tank when I spotted it have shown any signs of infection, so I guess it's just one of those mysteries that will have to wait for diagnosis!

The pimples have completely gone now, and there seems to be no ill-effects at all from it. This has baffled me. I have been keeping goldfish for many years and never seen anything like this before, and although it's now gone, I'd still be interested in knowing what it was and whether any of the meds I used worked on it at all.

The way the lumps detached makes me wonder if it wasn't some sort of paracite, and the temperature of the water stopped the spread, since I put it into the isolation tank at 30C.

The fish seems to be fine now, so I'll give him a couple of days before I put him back with the others, just to be sure. I have adjusted the temp back down a couple of degrees to get him used to cooler water again.

Any thoughts?

I think that your theory of a parasite could be right-on with time in 30C water.
