29 Gallon Tank Tumour on Betta Fish?? or just scarring?

Hi... I've had a betta that lives with a couple mollies in a 29 gallon tank, when I first got her early this year, she had a tiny bump beside her dorsal fin where it looked like her flesh had exploded and the skin grew over it... however, the bump has grown more significant as she grew and now it's almost 1/5 the size of her body, without the tail. It looks pretty rough and the shape isn't like a perfect spherical bump, it's completely not geometrical like a small mountain grew on my betta back. My betta has dark green scales and crimson fins, but the patch on the back is black and some white on it. It doesn't seem to be affecting her, but I'm getting a little bit more concerned since the spot is getting bigger.

Hi,

Can you post a few pics from different angles? That may help us to give you better advice.

i'm away from my house right now, I will post pictures hopefully when I get home later, I might need to take her out of the tank and put her in a cup to take pics.... she is too active sometimes :)

Photos? Sounds like the usual betta tumor. If it is only on the fin it can be cut off and prevent spreading to the body but once it's on the body not much can be done. Sometimes these tumors are fluid filled and can be lanced/aspirated to shrink them down. IME they always come back, always get larger and eventually start to effect the fish's health.

As a breeder of bettas myself, I've taken to euthanizing the young individuals that start to develop said tumors and discontinuing lines that have these tumors show up in the young. It's definitely a genetic thing from what I've seen.

oh... it's only near the fin, the tumour is on the body itself. Should I wait for the tumour to affect the betta's health or should I euthanize her immediately... :( I'll still take pictures later to clarify what I'm saying...
Couldn't get her to stay still in the tank... so i put her in a cup, here's the pic... sorry for the bad picture quality
Is it a tumour and is it getting really bad????

Sure looks like a tumor but if she’s acting okay then leave her be until she stops being active and/or stops eating.

So there's no way to heal or get rid of or make the tumour any better? I have some kanaplex on the way, could that help?

Probably not. If the tumor ruptures using some mild treatments may help prevent infection until it heals back over.

this is kind of unrelated to the betta tumour, but my betta has a small lump under her gills(that's basically the best I can describe it), it's like there's something under her gills and with one gill she looks like she's flaring all the time(it's not that bad, but it kind of looks like it), with the other gill, it seems to be normal. I'm a little bit worried because I previously had a dumbo betta that died with those exact symptoms....
