Re: TUBIFLEX CUBE - GOOD OR BAD!!!!!!!!?????????????

They are fine to feed your tetras if they will eat them. Don't feed them more than twice a week though. They contain a lot of fat, not to mention the mess they cause in the tank. My fish won't touch the Wardley brand. The HikarI and Omega One brands seem to be more preferred. I think the Wardley brand just sits on the shelf too long and the cubes are old.

Re: TUBIFLEX CUBE - GOOD OR BAD!!!!!!!!?????????????

I use San fransico bay company brand and I break off a tiny piece and break it up in the water and just give them a few instead of letting them pick at it.

Re: TUBIFLEX CUBE - GOOD OR BAD!!!!!!!!?????????????

I must not have picky fish. I have a 55 G. community tank & they love my Wardley Tubifex Worms. I scrape off a cube into the tank with my fingernail so that the smaller fish can eat, but then I let a little bit bigger pieces come off for the larger fish that can fit a small chunk into their mouth. I only end up feeding a part of a cube that way. The whole cube would be way too much to feed at a time.

LFS or lfs stands for local fish store. I read your email and emailed you today. How is your fish? Hope he's okay.

Re: TUBIFLEX CUBE - GOOD OR BAD!!!!!!!!?????????????

Tubifex worms are good for a "treat" but not on a regular basis. My fish love the Wardley brand, but they will eat almost anything. If you have a good filter, it should do a good job of clearing up the mess. Get an airstone if you have a big enough tank and pump some air through the water. That will help circulate the water better and clean the tank also.

Re: TUBIFLEX CUBE - GOOD OR BAD!!!!!!!!?????????????

I feed them to my mollies and they devour the stuff. But I hardly put anything in at all. Something like 1/4 of a cube or something. Otherwise, they can't keep up. They're really funny when they bite off a huuuuge bit, and refuse to spit it out. They look like they have a moustache until another fish snatches it off them.

I though you aren't supposed to use tubifex because they come from polluted water bodies and may transmit disease?

Re: TUBIFLEX CUBE - GOOD OR BAD!!!!!!!!?????????????

I for sure have had a scare with tubifex, but I think it wasn't related after all. They started behaving really funny (mollies, started thrashing around) after feeding them just tubifex for a few days (that in itself wasn't clever).

But I looked into it and the only feedback I could get was that it had to be safe as it was freeze-dried. I guess some bacteria can resist that sort of processing, but wouldnt' know which.

All I know is I feel reasonably safe giving them tubifex now, but just once in a while.
