Trying To Time Platy Pregnancy Right For Fry Tank- Help!

I’m trying to save as many fry as I can. I have a fry tank that I set up, and I try to time it right so I can put her in there and then get her out once she’s done. I only put here in there once so far, and got 6 babies to live. I know she goes after the fry after she gives birth. Anything I can do to prevent that? Also, I can’t tell if she will be able to eat the other fry that are already in there. I will put a pic of one of the newer ones.
As for the female, do you think she will give birth tomorrow? Tomorrow is day 28. The last time I put her in the new tank, she hid in the corner under the sponge filter. I know hiding could be a sign a being in labor, but it concerned me because she was in a new tank. Once I put her back with the other platies though, she seemed to cheer up. Here is the female and one of the fry from a month ago.

She is the bottom platy in that pic. You can see the gravid spot there.
Here’s a fry from a month ago:

She looks like she has a ways to go.
Do you have a breeding box? I think that would help prevent her from eating babies. Put it in your fry tank and put her in it so she won't eat the newborns or the existing fry.

I do have a breeder box, but I don’t use it because it stresses her out? I tried to use it once, and she freaked, so Iet her out and I only used it to keep two fry in. If it looks like she still isn’t ready yet, then I won’t put her in tonight. I get up early tomorrow, so I think I’ll set her in there tomorrow. I’m mainly worried about her getting too stressed, not eating the other fry. But I’ll see in the morning I guess.

I watched this video once, it was directed for guppies but it's basically the same thing. Ima see if I can find it real quick and that will maybe help you determine when she is ready. The video is really good and pointed out things that I never really noticed with a pregnant livebearer, so it's 100% worth the watch if I can find it.

Thanks! I always get confused about the boxing lol. I can never spot it.

It sort of looks like she's boxing up, but I am not sure. She's not that fat, but she has a big gravid spot and it's day 28. I think I'll put her in the other tank this morning, and take her out when she's done.

That’s a lot of fry! Mine never gives birth to that many! Maybe she’s just young and can’t give birth to that many yet. Or she eats the majority.

I put her in the fry tank and now I’m waiting. She might stay in there for maybe two more days, I’ll keep her overnight if she hasn’t given birth by then. I have a lot of plants at the surface, and some on one side, but I’m not sure if it’s enough. I’m also waiting on some subwassertang which may help, probably not as much. Wish me luck! I’m not home for about 8 hours lol but I have someone checking on her every once in a while. Hopefully that should be enough. I just don’t understand why only 6 fry live when the female has an entire tank. Could it be stress? Or is she eating a bunch of fry? Or maybe she isn’t old enough to have that many fry in one birthing?

It’s ok. Thanks anyway! Congrats on the fry too! I currently have about 8, and I’m waiting on two other females to grow a little older and also be pregnant. I’ll keep this thread updated, but I’m going to change the title to the questions now.

Apparently she is hiding in a corner, by the filter. This is what happened before. I can’t tell if its from stress or preparing to give birth. Does anyone know?

She really doesn't look like she's going to drop too soon. Maybe in another week.
She's still got a pretty round belly
He's some good examples of a platy ready to drop.

Ok. It’s a little strange since it’s been 28 days. I’ll update later.

Taking longer than a month isn't uncommon for them. Theyll only drop when they feel that it's safe

Update: So she's been sitting behind the filter, but when I step away fro the tank then she swims around again. Right now she is scavenging for any pieces of frozen brine shrimp that the fry missed, so I think I'm going to add a little bit more. But at least she's out and about!

She also seems to miss the other platies, but hopefully I can get her back in the regular tank soon enough. She isn't bothering the other fry though, which is good.

I couldn’t update this morning, but thought I would now. She is more active, and doesn’t hide when I come over. She looks overall well. I think she’s sad that she’s not with other fish though, could that be possible? Anyways, since she’s doing better, I’m thinking of leaving her in the fry tank (10gal) until she’s given birth.

Does anyone know if there is any harm in keeping her in the tank until she gives birth? Besides hiding from me, she is starting to come out, and doesn't have any clamped fins, etc. Could I keep her in the tank for about another week without the other platies? She seems to miss her buddies.
