I have been trying to find killies for 8 months now and all I have found is very plain and dull ones. I want to find the very colorful ones that I found in my books. If any one knows where to find them in Vancouver B.C. could they please let me know. Thanks

You could order eggs from eBay and raise the fish yourself or you could buy the actual fish off of eBay. That is where I found mine.

Do you think it would be possible to have a fish store order them for me, because I only want maybe 6 but with different markings.

They could order them for you, but they can be from anywhere between $15-$40 for a trio(1 male and 2 females). The males are also very territorial and the only ones with the color you speak of. This would need a large enough tank for each of them to create and sustain their territories. It might be more worth your while to buy some off of eBay or from a local club that has their own little auctions/giveaways/trades. But also remember to do all your research before actually buying any. Have you decided which ones you will want to get? If not, check out these sites.

Those sites have pics of some killifish but not all. Hope those help with your choices.

I wanted to find a supplier before I did extensive research on them. I didn't realise that only the males were the colorful ones I just like brite fish. do you know how many trios you could put in a 55 gal? and if they are even a good community fish?

They are usually best in a group of other killifish. Most places say they should be in a species only tank. With a 55 gallon tank, you could have anywhere from 11-22 fish in total. If there is anything else you need to know, just let me know.

Just check out the ones you want first and then ask the pet store if they can order them after doing all of your research, I can't emphasise this any more.

That is good to hear. As long as you try and read as much up to date stuff as possible.
