Trying Pothos (a Few Questions)

Giving a few Pothos vines a shot in my tank; being careful about the leaves, but just curious who else utilizes them in their tanks and

A.) are you noticing any noticeable reduction in nitrates, and

B.) if they're doing well, what kind of lighting are they getting, and

C.) I realize that the minerals in the water will be some "fert", but is it still okay to dose my tank with Flourish?

D.) I'd love to see pics of tanks with Pothos being utilized.

I just stuck my three vibes into some of the existing "holes" in the hood for air tubing, etc...

I have some in my tanks. Some leaves are under water and it really doesn't matter. Sometimes it starts growing new leaves underwater. I admit that I don't check parameters on my fresh tanks too regularly anymore but I have them all stocked with live plants and do water changes.

Plants that exchange air and have roots in the tank are said to use up more nitrates than some others.

A) yes in my 265 the nitrates always seem to be below 20. Before adding the pothos sometimes it could reach as high as 50 at times. I've not had a spike since.

B) Mine get only LED full spectrum lighting for now as it is inside my sump inside the cabinet and is growing not just surviving

C) I dose ferts as I would any other tank, including Trace

D)

You can 'just' see it tucked inside the sump. I cut a hole in some foam board took the plant out of the pot, rinsed all the dirt off, put it back in the pot, out pot and all in the foam board (so it'd float), & put it in the sump.

Thank you, Drummindot
I do see it back there, do you have a lot or just a few "vines"?

I have a few growing in my eccentric fishroom. I don't ever measure nitrates though. My longest piece was recently "transplanted" It was 17 feet long.

I put 3 vines of pothos thru the spot where air tubing is supposed to go, too. I wish it was on the other side as that is where my patio door is, so it would get more light, but it is growing. I put it in on February 24. I haven't tested nitrates in a few weeks, but I don't think I have enough roots to make a difference. I don't dose any ferts as the pothos is the only live plant I have.

Just one plant I got at Wally World and rinsed the dirt off of.

Here's a better picture. The lights are actually for my algae scrubber which helps a great deal to keep both nitrates and phosphates low. (It's inside that blue box.)

Thank you, Drummindot for the help and photos!
My mom gave me a few "vines" off of hers, I'm hoping they sprout roots soon and start helping

You're welcome!
You should see roots sprouting off the vine in a week or so. Look where there is/was a lead node one the stem, that's where they'll sprout the roots.

I made sure that some leaf nodes were in the water
I have two on the left and one on the right.
Not a great pic bc of the lights, but you get the gist

I have them in my tanks more for the looks than anything else. I don't notice a huge difference in nitrates with or without them. In my biotopes I have them up and around the lighting fixtures, running across & through the top of the tanks, etc. On my tank with hobs I have them growing out of the filters (I take the lids off and stick clippings in there) just because I like the looks of it. It can take a few weeks before it gets good roots going if its a clipping and has none currently.
