True ph of tap test, am I doing it right?

Ph of tank use to be between 7.2-7.8 now Its between 6.8-7.2
Tap oh right out of tap is 7.8 now I set up a 2.5 gallon bucket with one bubble stone thing, everything correct?
Going to wait 2 days so on Monday I'll test it

That's the best way to test your tap water for any parameter. Letting it gas out and settle really does affect your test results

DOes it matter if the airstone is on the side or in the middle will it be the same?

 

Doesn't matter. Any air stone placement will do
