TRIPLE tail Betta???

I've introduced Tom Thumb here before and was curious about his tail type. At the time he looked like a ragged CT/VT mashup and none of his rays were the same length. I only bought him because he was tiny and no one seemed to want him.

Well, his fins have grown incredibly and he flares more readily so I've got some good shots of his beautiful self at last. I'm even more confused about his tail than ever now though. Is there any such thing as a Triple Tail?!

I don't think so, he just looks like a betta with great fin genes that got some crowntail mixed in.

I agree with NinjaTetra. Maybe he's a combtail? Or a double tail and crowntail mix.

Thanks everyone! He certainly went from ugly duckling to swan in a hurry! If only all the people who passed him up for all those weeks could see him now His body is still super teeny but his fins continue to grow, I hope they won't get so big they affect his swimming!

I love when a fish turns out to be more than you first thought. My female betta, Ember, has better finnage now, and her coloration has definitely perked up a bit. And she wan't in a cup, she was one of the lucky ones that got a whole gallon!
Having a tank helps so muchz

Ikr? When I first bought Dreamer, I thought he was a mostly translucent/white betta with specks of blue and brown here and there. After taking him home, I was pleasantly surprised to find that he has shades of purple and even pink on his body!
