Trimming Roots of amazon sword before planting?

Should I trim roots before planting? I know it is common practice for planting DHG but I have this Amazon sword that will not root and floats up because it’s roots are difficult to bury. Can I trim the roots to stimulate growth and plant better or would that harm the plant?

I always give roots a good fresh edge before planting them. If its too short now I wouldn't worry about it.
