Treatment options for fin rot?

So, I have posted several threads trying to determine what is wrong with my betta's fins. At first it looked like he had just cut it on something and several cuts even healed up. But, I'm afraid it's getting worse. The cuts aren't super deep but instead of just being on top of his fin I've started noticing around the entire fin. I'm was hoping it would heal with time but today I noticed the edges of the fin are -slightly- black. I'm almost positive he has fin rot as this point as the cuts have started appearing all around the fin, turning slightly black at the tips of the cuts, and he's been staying at the bottom of the tank a lot more recently. The tank is five gallons and has been running for 2-3 months now. Ammonia is 0ppm, Nitrite also 0ppm, Nitrate is 20 ppm. I just did a 20% water change and vacuumed the gravel. I also added 3 Indian almond leaves yesterday. Should I just start doing water changes every 2-3 days and wait? I've also heard about doing "salt baths"? Any advice is helpful.

Could you post a picture? Bettas are very easily prone to fin rot, it will happen eventually, but it is treatable with very frequent water changes and help with extra tannin. The fin rot wont heal right away or in a week. It will take some time and many water chnages but clean water is whats best for any infection or illness. I recommend doing a water change every other day. I would do some Roobios tea extract as well and boil the IAL instead to get the tannin extract rather than having it slowly leech out into the tank . I would tint the water heavily, you cant 'overdose' with IAL so he will be fine. Try to keep his stress low too because Bettas will fin nip themselves if they are stressed.

Okay, I'll do that. I have a picture but you can't see the black but it's definitely there.

Also, would I boil the leaves just with conditioned water?

Yes make sure you condtion the water before adding into the tank. If you plan on adding the leaves as well, condition the water beforehand so it can seep into the leaves. If youre just boiling the leaves & removing them after, then you can wait to add the conditioner to the tea after it cools a little bit.
