I'm doing water changes, and my heater broke and its been constantly around 27 celcius (80 farenheit). In my country it was Labor Day this saturday and pet stores won't open till tomorow, so it has been like that for a couple of days now. So far I don't see much ich spreading although the fish seem to be resting in the bottom alot, although with no more ich than before I detected it.

Btw don't say anything concerning salt or copper, ive got a pleco. I also have decided to not used meds because I recently did a full water change (have been dealing with a handfull of diseases for the past 2 months) and want the tank once and for all to cycle (it never has had a chance to do so with all the meds ands water changing etc).

frequent water changes don't necessarily stall a cycle, big ones can but they may be necessary for the sake of the fish. What are your ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels? and what kind of water conditioner are you using?

I used bottled water so I don't use conditioner, where I live water is very unstable for those purposed and it isn't even drinkable. I don't have a testing kit I was gonna buy a lot of the stuff yersterday but it was labor day in my country and all commerce was closed. What I really want to know is will the fish make it to tomorow with ich in the tank and the temperatures down?

I cannot say whether they will live or not but if you haven't changed the water recently you really should. If your tank is not cycled and you have a large bioload in it, then you can bet that you will have issues with ammonia, and if you don't have a detoxifying conditioner like prime or amquel+ in the water then the fish are likely suffering the effects of ammonia and/or nitrite poisoning. This is why it is recommended that water changes be made daily while going through the cycling process.

Good morning,

I just wanted to add to Jetajockey's last sentence so others don't get confused. "This is why it is recommended that water changes be made daily while going through the cycling process" when cycling with fish.

Best of luck!

everything seems fine till now. I haven't noticed the first white spot ever since I detected it last week, even though the heater broke and everything.

Fish seem to be swimming up and down facing the glass, they have pretty much done that ever since they came into my tank, but now more than ever. Could that possible be scratching. I have a completely white molly and shes the one that does it the most, and probably I can't quite see the ich over her. But its strange she could have survived it with so much time and with all the bad conditions (cycling tank, heater broke etc).

BTW I have a heater, I didnt have one for 2 days but that's over.
