Treating Ich in tank

I'm not sure if there's another thread about this but I just came to ask. About a week and a half ago my tank started getting ich so I just increased the temp to 82. Since then all my fish got more and more ich and died except a danio and 3 tetras. Every day I do a 15% water chance and every other day gravel vac. 2 days ago I started ich treatment with a product because temperature didnt seem to be working so I added that and increased temp to 86. My danio looks to be dying and I noticed some ich appearing on one tetra too which also seems to be dying. So my real question is if all my fish died from ich should I keep up the water changes and gravel vacs and medicine? Also my tank is pretty heavily planted so can I just increase my temp to max (at 93) and would the plants be okay If I did? Also when could I add new fish to the tank? Oh btw I have a clown pleco in there that seemed to be the first with ich and now is blanketed with ich now.

HI bnt19 welcome I don't believe it's good practice to raise temperature and treat ich is at its most vulnerable when it falls off what treatment are you using and is it the correct dose

I was using Microbe lift artemiss and the lady told me that this one was good and I am giving the right dose. My pleco died and he wouldnt eat which was weird and it seemed like I couldnt do anything to help him also 1 of my tetras died

Problem was that you didn’t increase the temp enough initially. Temp needs to be 86F to stop Ich from reproducing. Also I checked that product, it’s described as a ‘chemical free’ treatment for bacterial diseases. It will not cure Ich.

You need to hold temp at 86F and/or get a proper Ich treatment however I fear that the disease is now well progressed.

K this was $18 and I specifically told her I had ich what a scam these stores they just want to sell the most expensive product. I'm not even sure if I can return it . People also told me from the store that 82 would be enough until it wasn't actually helping get rid of it so I researched online and found that most can handle 86. Well if all my fish die will increasing to higher temps help get rid of it faster and better

If there are no livestock in the tank there is no point in increasing the temperature. Ich cannot survive long without a host. Just run the tank empty of livestock for several weeks. You will then need to do a fishless cycle to get your filter back to normal.

So do I keep doing water changes and just let it run and leave it be?

Depends, how many fish are remaining? Are you going to try to treat them?

If the tank is empty you can continue with some water changes with gravel vac which will help to remove any Ich eggs, but regardless they will die soon after they hatch without a host.

I'm not sure. In my 29 I had 5 neons but the gouramis were attacking it and killed 2. So, I moved them to my 55 because I feel they had a better chance in there than in my 29 (I know it had ich and I'm dumb) so I saw a little ich on the fin of my neon and he died so I have only the danio and 2 neons. In my 5 I was going to do probably so far danios a rainbow shark and a peacock eel for sure but the peacock eel will eat the neons later on. So I know this is mean but I kind of just want them to die off. I feel I worked hard for nothing. The neons will just keep the ich alive and stay for longer.

If that's how you feel I think that you should euthanize them humanely rather than let them suffer through Ich.

Is there a good way that you suggest doing it?

You need to treat the tanks and not kill them, if you kill them and get new fish the same thing can and usually dose happen again at some point so you just can't kill them for having a parasite that can be treated

I agree although I suspect that they are already suffering badly and the chances of successful treatment are slim.

Ya, unfortunately I can't get the clove oil today and I don't want to cut their heads off so I might just give the ice bath. Should I make it super cold so its faster? I know they need to be in their own container with warm water that floats in the cold

I can only agree there to a certain point no one as seen pictures to assess and say they need euthanizeing we are only taking op opinion who as been misled by the lfs, and now it's not going just want a quick get out

I mean I would be okay with decapitating only because freezing takes a while

I mean they are already dying and they are becoming slower and staying at the top or bottom

It's a decision you'll have to make yourself. I personally don't consider ice baths or freezing to be the most humane methods.

Ya I read that they can be still alive after getting frozen to ice

Do you think beheading is best? Next to clove oil of course but leave out that
