Treating corydoras fin rot

I lost my little Cory Siesta (he liked to take naps). And now Mr. Magoo is looking sick too. I woke up this morning and all of my fish who were fine last night are all infected with finrot-- so I am using Jungle Labs Fungus Clear. Mr. Magoo has lost most of his color (even for an albino) My tank is cycling so I am aware that this is my fault and I feel horrible for it. I am using Amquel + and doing 25% water changes to try to keep ammonia down. Right before I changed the water last night the ammonia was at 0.5, so I did the water change and dosed with the Amquel +.

Are there any other suggestions

Just keep doing what you are doing as it sounds like you have done everything correctly. Just be sure there isn't any activated charcoal in your filter. Also, it is sometimes suggested to raise the temp of the water to help get rid of bacteria infection. HOWEVER (sorry for the caps but it's a big however) in the case of a cycling tank... DO NOT raise the temp. Higher temps make more of the ammonia toxic then lower one's. Granted you are using Amquel+ but it can only bind up so much ammonia per dose (unless you add more during this time). Other then that, just keep up with the water changes and most of all.... Good Luck!

Water changes are the best option, and the medication will hopefully work to get rid of the fin rot

I'm sorry that you lost little Siesta and I hope Mr. Magoo pulls through.. you're doing the best for them and I hope the fungus clear does the trick to kick the fin rot out.

Well-- he is still pale (even for an albino) and he isn't as active as when I first got him, but I got him some new friends to make him feel secure. I am hoping he recovers and gets his color back... time will tell

I hope so too. I bet the friends will help.

Thanks-- they have been laying with him at night so I think they are pals!

Great. I think it's amazing how much a buddy or 2 will help a fish heal faster or feel better.
