Treat Internal Bacteria/parasites

I think my peppered Corydora has some sort of internal parasite or bacteria. I have a few questions about the disease and how I can treat it.
1. Is it likely to infect my other fish?
2. What medications are good for treating internal problems?
3. What causes internal bacteria/problems and how can I stop this from happening again?

Any input would be appreciated

What makes you think he has something? What symptoms is he showing?

I don't think it's parasitic, but if you want to treat with something in case it's bacterial, I might go with a combo like Kanaplex and Erythromycin to cover gram positive and gram negative bacteria. I would move him to a separate tank to treat, rather than treating the whole tank.

Kanaplex and Erythromycin look good. I would definitely move him to a different tank to treat.

Erythromycin will kill a lot of your beneficial bacteria that maintain your cycle, so it should always be used in a QT tank if possible!

Once you get this guy treated, I would invest in a 20 gal for the cories, so you can get more and they'll be less stressed Stress can lead to disease

Thanks, I'll probably get a 20 gallon soon. My parents aren't crazy about the idea, but my birthday is coming haha

I put the peppered Cory in a QT yesterday and added Erythromycin as I can't find any Kanaplex in my area. I haven't seen any odd behaviour today from him, so fingers crossed that he continues to improve

The Cory is still not showing any odd behaviour in the QT, but he seems to have gone really pale. Is this normal when treating a fish with Erythromycin? Should I stop treating him and return him to the main tank?

I would guess that it's more about him being in a new tank by himself than because of the meds.

What's your QT setup like?

It's a 2 gallon container with an airstone and some Java moss. Not ideal, I know, but I don't really have anything else.

That's likely what's stressing him out. What kind of substrate do you have? Can you add a filter with some seeded media so he's not in an uncycled tank? Ammonia could kill him.

If you're in the US, you can pick up a 10 gal for $10 right now.
