Transferring To New Tank.

I bought a 2nd Betta and I’m going to be putting both bettas in a divided 10G after new Betta is out of QT. I will be moving their filters over to the new tank for an automatic cycle. Should I: 1). Go ahead and transfer the fish at that time using a little Prime and just test in a few hours to be sure the tank cycled? 2) Leave them in their cycled individual tanks with no filter but with an air stone for a few hours until I know the new tank cycled. Suggestions?

I would also suggest, moving most if not all their old water into the new tank and decorations/ gravel/ sand

That won’t work. There has to be water in the new tank for the filters and water in the old tanks for the fish. Very little bacteria lives in the water column anyway. Thank you so much though.

I know very little bacteria is in water,I just thought you should empty the current tanks about half way and add the other halves to the new one so then the water will be somewhat familiar to them

Can they see each other in the new tank? That can cause stress if they are constantly looking at each other, occasionally might be fine

I’m actually changing 50% water each day right now due to a split in fin so the water won’t be much different from tank and tap. Again, thank you.

I don't think it would matter if you moved the fish immediately or waited a few. They probably wouldn't generate enough ammonia in that short time to tell if the cycle followed the filters or not.

I agree . I have plenty of extra media in other filters if I need to seed them a little more. I feel confident they would be cycled quickly . They always are. It’s just a matter of getting the water to turn over a few times. I’ve just st never us d the same filter before. Always seeded new filters in the past. Prime will protect them until then. Thanks for your input.
