Topfin 5 Gal Outflow For Betta

Have any of you modified the Topfin 5 gallon glass aquarium outflow for your betta? When I had artificial plants I always had a large plant in front of the outflow to diminish the current. At one point I had a large "cave" in front of it to block the current. The cave was too big for a 5 gallon so now I have real plants, more swimming space for the betta, and a problem with the current. I've tried various sponges to cover the outflow, a suction cup plastic soap dish (which made it worse), and now a big fake plant again...and I hate how it looks. I have taken the filter motor out and it is not adjustable - I have read that some of them are. Anything that has worked for you?

Did you try turning it down to the absolute lowest setting, this worked fine for me, Bucky, my orchid betta is very happy in there with the setting on the lowest level. It is barely a trickle of water.
