I decided to go with gravel substrate cause I'm not experienced with sand and wasn't sure if I was going to do some aquascaping til now after my new tank cycles so anybody have good ideas for beginner plants that are tough with high water temps, PH and lighting?

Thanks!!

You best bet is hardy, beginner friendly plants that are sure to flourish in any setting. I recommend Java Moss, Anubias, Java Fern, Swords, Water Sprite, Water Wisteria, Hygrophilia, Ludwigia, and some hardy floaters like duckweed and frogbit if you're prepared to make the commitment. Duckweed will quickly overrun your tank unless contained but will help purify and remove nitrates and requires no specific requirements in order to grow. FOr the rest of the plants a good quality liquid fertiliser and some root tabs for the swords.

As someone who's very much so a beginner, I've had a lot of luck with hornwort!! grows crazy fast and seems to thrive in pretty much any condition. I also have some rotala which is a pretty red color and grows quickly. the only thing i really do is put in liquid fertilizers and they do perfectly fine. Good luck!!

Is that Rotala Macranda? If so then well done you because it's known to be notoriously difficult to grow and needs very specific water requirements. I've tried and it all died on me - so well done!
