Tomorrows shopping trip. Coupons and sales galore!

This saturday, my mom and I took my cousins (10 and 7) down the the Humane Society and adopted them a puppy. She is, so they were told, Retreiver (not sure whether lab or golden), Akita, Boxer, Pit Bull, and Chow. Momma came in preggers, so her and the pups were sent to a foster home so the little ones could grow up, then be adopted out themselves. Not sure which of these listed breeds mom was, or if she will be available for adoption. anyways, because the kids were just down the for the weekend, and they live 3 hours away, and the puppy needed to be fixed today before she could leave the Humane Society, she will be staying with us a couple days. We already have a puppy (7 months, or something like that), but he is on grain and chicken free adult food, I need to get some puppy food!

Anyways, they USED to give a small bag of Science Diet food with every animal adopted so that they could be weened to a new food with out having to just be switched right over. Apparently, they now just give out coupons. This got me thinking: I bet I could find more coupons online! I was looking for a store coupon, but ended up stumbling over something a bit better

I found, on Hill's website, a "New Pet Owner" starter kit type thing. It's 2 coupons for buy three cans of food, get 2 free, and 3 $5 off any size bag dry food coupons. You can find these by going to their home page, searching "New Pet Owner" and then scrolling down the page to "New Cat/Dog Owner". Sign up with your email and a password, and install the printing program, and you have some good stuff. I used two different emails and accounts to print the coupons twice till the figured me out. It tracks your IP address, two uses per IP, one use per email. If you have several computers and don't mind making a bunch of useless emails, you could really have some fun LOL

Anyways, PetSmart has their 4.5 pound bags of food on sale for $7.07 ($7.53 with tax) and I have $4 off $20 to use as well. So, I'll be buying 3 of these little bags of food for less than 4 bucks! Too bad I couldn't find any store coupons for the food... Would have been even better! LOL I may have to go to PetCo and have them price match though, as one of the managers at PetSmart doesn't like me, and says only one coupon per order can be used. Poop head...

Also, a side note: I personally don't think Science Diet is all its cracked up to be. But, this is what the dog is used to, and I won't screw with her diet just for my aunt and uncle to change it again when we get to take her up there later this week. What's an extra 4 bucks gunna do? Lol

So, yeah, this should be pretty fun! May grab a couple of those cans, too. I love couponing! I'll update with what I actually get tomorrow afternoon

I also love to coupon. My spare room/computer room is where I keep my stockpile. It is so nice to be able to walk in the next room versus driving to the store (where you spend $50 and only went in for a gallon of milk, not to mention the gas wasted). I have been a devoted couponer for a little over 2 years now. I will never not use coupons again. It has really helped my family out in these hard economic times (I have been without steady employment since September 2011)

Isn't she so stinkin' cute??

I just wish we got to keep her! But, the kids are excited about their puppy. They picked her out from the whole litter of 6 lol

I love my coupon trips I've got a couple customers at work (I work at Publix) and my friend doing it now XD

Shelters and Humane Societies will often label the puppies that look anywhere NEAR a lab (and sometimes not even that) a lab-mix. It's because of the positive association of Labrador nature/appeal and popularity. (okay... done with soap box)

Of course... I don't think it matters at all what it IS per se (Nurture vs. Nature and all that)... the puppy is adorable and I hope the owners are ready for an active dog that will need lots of attention and training!

And... one more soap box on the food. (sorry I used to have a Labrador with digestive issues) Science Diet is terrible food... I'd wean him off that as quickly as possible.

They labeled the puppies according to what they were old by the people who surrender them and the mother. The Akita is obvious, I could understand the pit looking at the face, and then looking at the two pups that have longer fur, I could see the chow. But boxer and retriever I'm not sure about... LOL

They currently have a 13+ year old male pit bull. I don't know what they feed, and it's not really my business. My dogs eat Innova. One gets Prime and the others get their regular adult food. As already stated, I don't like Science Diet. You could buy Dog Chow and get the same "quality" for less than 1/2 the price. The only difference with Science Diet is more protein, and it's "veterinarian reccomend". People are stupid, that's exactly what it boils down to.

Ooh! I found one, I found one! I found a PetCo coupon for $3 off any bag of Science Diet. I need to re-think my shopping trip now :3 I'm off to see how much the cans of food are! Shopping, AWAAAAAAAY!

*edit*

Ok. Heres my plan!

I should be able to get:

2x 6 pound bags of Innova Adult Dog Food
1x 5 pound bag of Innova Prime (Fish) Dog Food
4x 4.5 pound bags of Science Diet Puppy food

Retail with price matching should be about $80.52 for all these. I *SHOULD* be paying about....
...
...
...
...
...
...
$2.52!!

Awwwww snap! >=D

There are, however, some strange coupon magics that go on that I don't exactly understand. Something about taxing the coupons or not taxing them... I don't know. So I could very possibly be closer to $3. However, I'm still ok with that

Ok, I'm back from the store! First I went to PetCo and did my original plan. It was all going great until it got down to the last two coupons, which were $10 off each bag of Innova. The computer had a fit, and the boss working at the time had to come over. He then proceeded to tell me that I could only do one manufacture coupon, because they say on them one per person. He made the cashier void the whole stupid thing, and told me only one $5 off manufacturer coupon. Stupid poop head! So we put a few things back and then went back up two bags of Science Diet. The cashier Let me do both bags, with both manufacturer coupons and both $3 off PetCo coupons. So I got the two for 99 cents (just tax basically, as you cannot go in the negative).

I then proceeded to go to Pet Supermarket, who price matched the other type of puppy food (Healthy Development) for $7.99 and I got both bags for 35 cents each. Needless to say, I'll go back there and buy a couple more. I even got to break in the new girl ;D
