To upgrade, or not to upgrade...

Trying to weigh the pros and cons of upgrading my 55 gallon to a 75 gallon. So far, here's what I have:

Pros:
More space for Angels
Can add to current schools
Easier to switch out substrate (which I want to do regardless)
Easier to rescape (also needs to be done regardless)

Cons:
$$$ - new tank, canopy, possibly another light

New canister filter (can't use current HOBs because there's not enough room between a 75 gal tank and the wall without buying a new stand)

Will have to get rid of 55 tank somehow

**Anyone else have an opinion? I need to decide before the DPG sale is over!**

You can buy the tank just to have it for whenever you're ready to make the upgrade? An expensive venture, but you don't have to get everything all at once, do you?

Buy a component, save up cash, buy the next component, rinse/repeat... upgrade!

Or just ask yourself this: Will you regret not upgrading? If not, then it's a whatever sort of situation. If so, now's the time to get that tank!

True. I'm just running out of room in the basement to harbor projects . But, I feel bad for my angels because the one is getting pretty big and a 55 gallon isn't very wide for it to be able to swim and turn around.

And both stores by me are out of the 75s and not expecting more to come in. Guess they made the decision for me.

There's always craigslist, or maybe some fish groups, or forums in your area?
I just bought a 55 gallon acrylic tank, stand, and filter for 50 bucks. Didn't exactly need it lol, but I like having extra tanks. : )

Wow! That's a really good deal!! I've been scoping out Craigslist for a good deal, just haven't found one yet close enough to me.

Hopefully you do, soon. There's nothing quite like a fresh new setup.

I'm literally to the point where I'm browsing through craigslist tank ads to put myself to sleep. Lol

I get a good laugh out of people trying to sell small tank setups for 200+, though. Or the people who went out and bought a tank with the petco sale, then try to resale it for double the price....while the sale is still going!

There's a few people in a local forum I'm on that have good deals. A 100gal for 100. A 220 complete set up for 500.

So if you haven't already, ask around for any of those.
The main one I'm on, I heard about through a lfs.

I actually found a 72 bowfront on craigslist the other day. Might just need resealing, but it's only $50! Going to pick it up Saturday I'm super excited to get it set up!!

Very good deal! I paid 50 for my 46 bow setup. My bf would be jealous. He's in love with bowfronts.

So the bowfront deal fell through I ended up just getting a standard 75 anyways, but it's already all set up and I'm loving it regardless.

Blah, I'm sorry. I'm sure the 75 is gonna look awesome, though! What are you stocking it with?

I currently have 2 angels, 3 red minor tetras, 3 bloodfin tetras, 3 black neons, 2 neon tetras, 4 kuhlI loaches, 2 panda corys and 2 bamboo shrimp. My schools are all messed up from some disease a few months ago. Got everything cleared up and ready to fix my numbers. Probably going to take some and give to my mom to stock her 55 (my old one ) and fix the schooling number. Also I'm considering rehoming the angels, the one is getting pretty aggressive.
