Is the tank cycled? It's common for the water to be cloudy while the tank is cycling.

Do you know your water parameters? It's possible for tanks to go through mini cycles when too many new fish are added or if the tank is overcrowded to begin with.

Sounds like a bacterial bloom. What does the water smell like?

A micron size filter would clear the water. But what is the cause? There could be several things. Over feeding (#1) I have found that most people with this think they are feeding the correct amount but are not. Fish need far less food than is commonly believed. New wood, it often will be the cause if it was taken from the wild. Also dead fish that has not been found will do this. Have you done a head count?
