I have glowlights and black neons. I've tried several times to move them to a new tank but though I managed to catch most of the glowlights the black neons continue to elude my net!

Anyone have any hot tips for tetra wrangling?;D

What size tank? Their are different methods but it depends on the size tank.

Use 2 nets to corner them...is what I heard.

Two nets work well. Another easy way is to drain half or more of the water less room to swim.

It depends on the tank!!! 2 nets only work for 10 gallons or a 20 gallon long. For anything higher like a 29+ 2 nets won't work.

Actually, using 2 nets works very well for larger tanks too. I use two nets to catch fish in my 29 gal and 55 gal. Lowering the tank water level will also help.

Shut the light off for an hour, turn it on, and catch them. They'll be calmer. Just don't try to scare them too bad

How many do you have? I have found that tetra's are super nosy - I have used the bottle trick for MANY of my fish ( loaded with their favorite foods ) with success! My pleco's were far the hardest to round up but I did with a bottle and put them in a hanging breeder net in the same tank until I got everyone! SUCCESS! I started using this for all of the fish I want to move out of QT - then again, my QT is only 5 gallons

I cheat some times and drop theirfood while the nets aready in the water
that way theyre at the surface.

UniqueShark, already tried that trick. They're wise to me.
Plecomaker, no dice. These tetras are spoiled rotten and have their food delivered to them via the filter outflow. They've never had to eat from the surface

When I was trying to catch my serpae tetras in my 20 high I sprinkled food on the top and while they were eating I used a net to quickly scoop them. Usually with a big net you can get 3-4 at a time. Then you repeat. I had 2 left and there was no way I could catch them with my net! I go a clear plastic bag(it was not a grocery bag it was more of a toilet paper roll bag although it wasn't that but you get what I mean!) I submerged the bag and then I placed 2 edges of the bag on one side and the other and put 2 rocks. Basically I created a big stationary net with out holes. The mouth of the bag was facing the 2 serpaes. I then used my net to try to make them move toward the net, after a few seconds the serpae swan into the bag. SInce the bag is big and clear they didn't know that they were actually in a bag. I then too the ends of the bag and brought it up. So I technically bag them in the water! LOL, I poored the water out into my net until the serpaes reached swam out of the net. I find this much easier than trying to chase them with a net. For a 20 gallon long you shouldn't have much of a problem.
