When using a bucket for water changes don't trust the handle will take the weight . . . . . .you can guess what's coming next can't you? . . . . yes the handle gave way & dumped the whole bucketful of water half in my kitchen & half in the living room, not to mention the splashes all up the walls!

Looking on the bright side luckily it was the clean water I was replacing & not the dirty tank water with the filter gunk in it & I now have a very clean kitchen floor after mopping up though the carpets going to take a while to dry out.

+1 for clean water.

As I was reading this I kept thinking "Oh no not the dirty water...my wife would absolutely murder me"

I think I might have cried if it was the dirty water

Wow... thanks... but haha, I can't carry the bucket by it's rims...

On the bright side, you probably have the nicest, cleanest kitchen in all of England!

Atleast you didn't forget to unplug the bathroom sink while using your Python and draining a 25g 80%.... Right after refinishing the cabinets in there.... Guilty as charged Water was everywhere. All through the drawers and cupboard, covering the floor and beginning to hit the carpet outside the bathroom as well. Never again.

Oh dear, that makes me feel a bit better now as mine was only a bucket full.
I don't think I could ever trust a python, I flooded the kitchen once just using a hose to wash the car as the connection wasn't on the tap properly.
Hmm I'm beginning to think me & water don't always get along too well

One time I was using my python and didn't realize that one of the connecters had come a bit loose and water was slowly leaking onto the floor for about 10 minutes before I noticed. (I have a 50 foot hose and was nowhere near the leak). And sadly it WAS the dirty water :-( BUT luckily it was my hard kitchen floor and not the carpet. And there was no splashing on the walls!

I have always been worried about the handle on my bucket giving way!! Your are so lucky it was clean water!! PHEW!!!

I learned that lesson long ago. I always use a heavy duty bucket with reinforced plastic around the handle. Bonus is it has a large lip for easy pouring.
