I just got my new Tiger Nerite a couple days ago and he was moving around just fine. I put my snail on a (Fake) crocodile, the next day I found him upside down underneath the crocodile, I quickly turned him right side up and put him in the left corner of the tank, He hasn't moved since, I tried smelling him, he smells like normal water... HELP!!

My nerite can stay in the same place for a week I think it's normal IME.

If they fall over in their backs, they cannot turn themselves over on their own, so I keep my eye on them and have to flip them manually, but it does not happen often in a heavily planted tank (lots of plant to grab onto). Although if he ends up upsidedown often, there could be problem, so keep your eye on him, but my snails sometimes take a break and stay stationary for a bit. Everything is ok in the tank, like water parameter wise?

The Aklanity is a little low, and the temperature is a little cold, but it's getting warmer.

If it doesn't smell it's probably fine. Nerites do that. Make sure you raise the temp slowly.

My nerites are in low alkalinity, and I unplugged the heater because they didn't seem to care (still at 75°f-ish). As long as they have a piece of cuttlebone, they are happy. I can't keep other snails like pest snails because their shells erode, but my nerites are seriously 5 years old.

I picked him up and looked at him, he has the trapdoor on, but just a little, I can see some of him peeking out

Do you have algae in the tank? My nerites won't eat anything but algae, so I have to have the light on for 12hrs to make it. Or if your climat has strong sun, you could try growing algae on flat rocks in a dish sitting in the sun, then transfer a rock in to feed.

Yes, I think so

I have two flat rocks, and keep the light on for about 13 hours

Should be good there then. Diatoms (brown algae) is their favorite and highest in calcium content, so a low light level on for a long time usually is the best way to grow it. Btw, I see absolutely no algae in my tanks with nerites because they eat it all up.

Before, when my nerite moved, he never went on the glass, he stayed on the ground. I don't think he ate any algae..

Mine aren't on the glass a whole lot either, but they only eat algae in my tanks, ignore the veggies I feed them

You can feed them veggies?

You could try it. Mine didn't eat them either.

I think he's dead now... I think I found parts of him floating in the water

I'll get about three more for my 10 gallon though..

Oh i'm sorry Too late now, but did you acclimate the snail to your tank?

Try acclimating the next ones. Doubtful it's your water because they will usually try to crawl out if conditions or params are not right. Pick the ones who are active and on the glass.

Yes, I chose the one on the glass and acclimated it.
