Thoughts on this tank

Hello all!
I bought a whole bunch of new plants and a piece driftwood today. What do you think of this tank? Something just doesn't look right about it. I'm debating between a blue or black background.

I'd add in a lot more plants and decor too.

I vote black background!

I think the black would look nice as well. I'd agree with Texas, maybe a few more small plants in the front, and then some time for everything to grow in. If I'm seeing correctly, you have a sword in the center, that will end up taking up a lot of space as it grows, and vals in the back right, which to my knowledge, will get pretty tall as well. The anubias on the wood will get taller also. I think the anubias and sword I have in my 10 started about that size. The anubias reaches almost to the top of the tank now, and the sword takes up about 1/3 of it.

everything looks a bit too isolated and sparse. kind of like how fake decorations would look. try to make it look more cohesive like it would in nature.

The Sword in the middle wil grow huge I think (might be a E.bleheri). I'd put it in a backcorner.
They all look nice and green btw

Black, blue, or a combination of the two where it goes from black on the bottom half, fading into the blue, is always my suggestion, gives depth to a tank. Also with the black/blue background, maybe silicone pieces of driftwood to the back of the tank. I've seen this in a 90 show tank, and gave the tank an added dimension. Make sure not to make the decorations too linear or symmetrical.:

I think it looks awesome. I usually like taller plant on the sides and shorter plants in the middle, or a bare middle. The "cave effect", and it looks good.

It does look very nice, although a little sparse. Once you add the background and a few more plants (and the plants grow in a bit more), it'll look great.

I agree with the points about isolation, try splitting the groups up and intermingling them a little bit. The larger plants in the back smaller in the front (when grown in).

Try find a much larger piece of wood, with some length to it. Position it in the back left with a vertical feel to it. Move the other wood to the front right and keep it lower profile. Then plant your pants around that and see what you think.

Add black background, just the background will make the tank look a lot fuller.

Do you know all of the plant species you have in there?

Yes. I have an anubias nana growing on the driftwood, two clumps of dwarf hair grass, four clumps of moneywort, and a sword in the center.

Add a bigger hardscape to be your focal point. Agree w/ everyone about replanting your tall growing plants in the back & corners. Also you would want to break apart your hairgrass to 1-2 shoots & space them apart, that would make them cover your foreground faster.
