Thoughts On Betta Food?

I know there was just a thread on this but I didn’t want to distract from the OP with my questions. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a good food? It’s ocean nutrition betta pellets. And if it is any good, is one pellet morning and night enough? These are super small. I have new life spectrum betta pellets but ocean nutrition has more protein. Thank you!

They should be fine. Remember bettas are carnivores. So when you buy food make sure the first ingredients aren't corn starch or potato starch. You could get frozen bloodworms or baby brine shrimp as food. You could get freezedried also but most people will tell you that it could expand and bloat your betta. But I've never had a problem. Remember a bettas stomach is the size of its eye. And the little stinkers will act like dogs and get you for more whatever you do don't as they can eat themselves to death

Ok thank you! I feed him frozen bloodworms and freeze dried shrimp and daphnia occasionally in addition. Am I feeding him the right amount?

When looking for food for bettas, especially make sure the protein is whole or something to that extent ( whatever protein as long as it's carnivorous ) but absolutely avoid food with meals in it as the first or second ingredient as it's not the quality, only crappy parts of the animal. Fillers also will almost always appear but the important part is to try to find a food with the fillers as the furthermost ingrediant as possible. For example Omega betta pellets have a filler sooner than the omega one flakes so I chose to use the flakes. Fillers will not kill your fish granted you are careful with them but the less the better. Even if the food has a high protein content, look at the ingredients. Like tetra products tend to but have very crappy ingredients. I go for fish food with high quality meaty not planty protein because bettas are not omnivores or herbivores . I looked at ocean nutrition and I can say I'm not estatic nor would I myself use it but it certainly isn't the best. I recommend omega one, new life spectrum, hikarI freeze dried , bug bites, or simply making your own fish food which is very easy and you can control what goes into the food. You can even add raw meat products of mostly any sort granted it is not high in fat like turkey, fish ( that aren't oily) and shellfish and so on as treats or in a mix to serve as food.
