I don’t see why not. It would be more of if you can keep the hairgrass alive and thriving. It needs more than regular gravel and lighting that comes with the tank.

Dwarf hairgrass is perfect for smaller tanks. BUT, if you have a coarse, nutrient poor substrate and lower lighting, it won't grow as well and certainly won't carpet. It does best under medium to high lighting with injected CO2 in a substrate like ADA Amazonia or Controsoil.

Can look amazing if it grows well but I don't think a betta would like it as much as swords or some floating anubias or hornwort etc.
They want to swim into the plants and hide/rest in them.

Maybe grow some moss on some rocks for the foregrounds

Any good suggestions on moss? I know of Java Moss but not a huge fan of it. I really want to have some carpet plants because they look really nice!

Christmas moss and flame moss is a more attractive option. You might also like round pellia.

Round pellia looks gorgeous! I’ll have to see if my LFS sells some. I’ll also have to do little research on those three and see which one I think is best. They all look awesome though! Thanks for the suggestions!
