This Mind Of Minced Garlic Okay?

Dealing with a potential ich problem! Turned the heat up and read that feeding garlic can help too, all I had in my fridge was "spice world minced garlic" looked up the ingredients and it is:
Garlic, water, citric acid and xanthan gum.
My first assumption would be no, what do you guys think?

 

Nah, I wouldn’t risk it. I’ve dealt with ich without garlic. In fact, I’ve never heard of that lol. I would skip the garlic on this one.

I've steadily raised my adjustable heater to 77 degrees but my thermometers are reading differently. What's going on? Is my tank water what my heater is set to? Lol I'm so confused.

Ah, your heater will take a little while to heat up all of the water, so the thermometer is how warm the tank is, while the dial on the heater is how warm the tank is going to be soon.

 

Okay, even if it was set on 87 last night it could still take this long for the tank to heat up?
Normally I wouldn't care if it was a little off but since I'm dealing with ich I'm a little more on edge with it and I've only had an adjustable instead of a preset for about a week so I don't have an experience with how reliable they are.

 

What does the thermometer say? Sorry I have quite bad eyesight lol. When did you turn the heater up? Also, what fish are in the tank, just wondering

 

Guppys, albino cory cats and a lace catfish. One says about 86 degrees and the other says 76. Managed to get it up to 86 about ten hours ago then 88 earlier today.

 

Hmm, it’s weird that they say different temperatures. Does your tank have enough water flow? Maybe there are different temperatures in different places in the tank. Or you have a faulty thermometer lol. What heater do you have? Maybe its a heater issue. Also, lace catfish get biiiiggg, they’d need somewhere around a 55 gallon for one but preferably a 75 gallon because they like to be in groups. Just a heads up. Also, did you cycle your tank? And can you post parameters please. Thanks

 

You could make some of your own garlic juice, by mincing garlic and soaking it in some water (I believe that’s what you’re supposed to do)
But yeah, garlic does help by boosting the fishes immune system

Its an aqueon 50 watt submersible heater up to 20 gallons. Neither of my thermometers say 88 yet, the highest it gets it my jw white one and it only says 82 degrees.
I have an air stone, bubble wall and sponge filter going. I've also lowered my water in the tank so that the filter hits it hard creating more bubbles and surface tension. I'm going to do a little more research on the heater and see if I can figure out what's going on.

 

You might have to re calibrate the heater, I don't know how to do it on yours but you can look it up. It’s pretty simple.
