HI there , after reading a few posts I am a proud newbie to the sight

I do have a question though..... I am considering purchasing a black ghost knife fish , although I already have a knife fish (hes about 3 1/2 - 4 inches long), is this possible to have them both in a tank without fighting or territorial issues . has anyone ever had both of these in one tank ? any comments would help a lot !!!!! I can not find anything as for both of these fish being together . Well like I said any help /comments would really help .
he is in a 75 gal if that helps w/ lots and lots of hiding places Thanks, Becky

I don't think it's a good idea...if you were to attempt it, I would say they would need to be in a 150g+ tank. I've read that the African Knives use electric currents to navigate, as do the BGKs, and especially the BGK may become stressed with another fish's signals. The BGK gets pretty big as well, a 75 gallon might be pushing it..I'd recommend 90g and up for them. There could be very well be territorial issues as well as the electrical ones, BGK aren't exactly friendly to their own kind usually.

Agreed with CrazedACD. BGK do it quite large and yeah 75gal...you might need to upgrade soon. Also they only way I would of held two BGK's is to get them both at the same time.

An african would not do well with a bgk - they are much too timid and would get bullied out of food and territory.

I did a lot of research on knife fish before getting my african. The only species of knife that will tollerate others of the same species is the african.
